This geyser basin occupies the west shore of Yellowstone Lake's West Thumb. The thermal active area is divided into three groups, Lower Group in the south, Lake Shore Group in center, and Potts Hot Spring Basin in the north. Only the Lower Group is open to the public, but Lake Shore Group and Potts Hot Spring Basin can be observed from roadway turnouts.
